Choosing a Quality Shimano Mountain Bike Shoes

Isn’t it frustrating watching riders with good bike shoes fly by you without breaking a sweat? Are they that much faster than you, or do bicycling shimano shoes really make that much of a difference?

I tell you, I really noticed a massive difference after I started wearing Shimano bicycle shoes. Having my feet firmly planted to the pedals makes me feel like the god of the biking world. It really helps when you have firm soles that transfer all your energy and power to the pedal rather than letting flimsy soles dissipate that energy.

The thought of having my feet locked in used to scare me. It just didn’t seem safe. But after a a co-worker convinced me to try out the new cleat positioner cap system on his mountain bike, I was addicted. I just couldn’t believe how simple that system made my transition to cleats. It’s really a wonderful system.

I bought Shimano SH-MT33L mountain bike cycle shorts, even though I usually do most of my riding on the road. The main reason was the positioner cap system, but I also liked the fact that they’re so good for walking in, and I wanted to start riding to work. I was determined to lose some weight, and I’ve just about reached my goal already.

Another reason they’re great for commuting is that they look like casual cycling clothing. I didn’t want to ride to work in flashy road shoes. The people at work never would have let me hear the end of that! Also, I would have had to change shoes when I got to work, and everybody would have been holding their noses. Not exactly kosher.

My bike shoes are also suitable for touring, which I on occasion do. They’re a little heavy for that, compared to the high-end shoes; but for the money, what can you expect?

Another wonderful thing about my shoes is that they breathe so well. Even when it's in the eighties, my feet don’t sweat in them.

It would be sweet if the cleats were a bit more recessed, so they wouldn’t make noise when you walk. But so far, no one has said anything about it, and I haven’t seen a bike shoe that doesn’t click when you walk.

Over-all, they’re a terrific value, and I’d endorse them to everyone. Except Harvey. I don’t want that jackass wearing the same shoes as me.

I showed my girlfriend the shoes, so of course she had to go acquire some black Shimano SH-WM50 mountain bike shoes to match mine, sort of. She uses them for both biking and spinning. She has absolutely fallen in love with her shoes; not that I'm jealous or anything.

She wanted me to let everyone know you should be careful if you acquire them online. She says the sizing system for them is screwed up. But she appreciates the fact that she can cinch them so tightly, because her feet are quite narrow. And she’s pleased at how much difference the shoes have made in her riding.

She likes having “SPD” written on the front of the shoe because she says it stands for Sexy, Pretty Damsel. And even if I thought otherwise, I wouldn’t dispute the point.
